Calling all data enthusiasts!

The Ministry of Justice has published a call for evidence on the future of open justice – Open Justice: the way forward. It covers a broad range of open justice issues, including broadcasting, listings, livestreaming, access to court documents, data access and reuse, public legal education, and publication of judgments.

What may be of particular interest, are the topics on access to court documents and information, the publication of judgments, and data access and reuse. These topics also include questions on computational reuse of judgments and the use of artificial intelligence with justice data. The evidence submitted to the Ministry of Justice will be used to inform future policy and service design in these areas.

The call for evidence will close on the 7th of September and it can be found online at Open Justice: the way forward - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Responses must be sent by email to Openjusticepolicy@justice.gov.uk.

Furthermore, The Ministry of Justice will be holding a number of engagement events and roundtables on the call for evidence in the coming months. If you would like to join one of these, or suggest other stakeholders who should join, please let the Ministry of Justice know at the above email. Further details on these events including the roundtables will be released in due course.
